About the Philadelphia Friends of the Projected Arts (PFPA) Board of Directors
For the last seven years the PFPA Board of Directors have been producing the Backseat Film Festival, an internationally known film festival with semi-annual events in Philadelphia (Roxy Theater, Triangle Theater, 941 Theater), New York (Pioneer Theater) and Baltimore (Creative Alliance Performance Space), as well as special events at the Alamo Draft House in Austin, TX and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland OH. Additionally, in 2002 the partners co-founded Backseat Conceptions, a multi-media production company based in Philadelphia which has produced over 15 feature films along with many other projects.
The PFPA Board Members have been working in the film industry for well over 10 years individually and together for about 9 years. In that time they have worked with a countless amount of filmmakers, many of which had the same problem; finding venues willing to screen their work. Being filmmakers and venue owners themselves, the PFPA members understands this need and is working towards a goal to raise awareness of the projected arts and make them more available to filmmakers of all types.
The structure of the board is three main board members; Doug Sakmann, Nick Esposito and Zafer Ulkucu, supplemented by a growing list of Advising Board Members. These members are all film industry professionals with many years experience who act as consultants and supporters of the main PFPA board members.
